He charged what people could pay and if they couldn't pay, he would simply do the work for free (which in the long run cost him as he had overhead and the cost of supplies and the office personnels' salaries). He was still a full-time dentist at nearly 83 years old when he was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. He worked for another month and then died three months later.

He always said that national health care would be a boon for him--that he'd come out ahead.

Dad loved being a dentist. When people would call with a tooth problem at night, on weekends, or holidays, Dad would always meet them at the office to take care of them.


I wish that you and your boys could have met my dad! You wouldn't be having problems with your teeth.
