and compare their acts vs. what the Jesus person is supposed to have said.

Congruence vs. incongruence.

Reason, logic.

For example: Jesus is supposed to have said the words contained in Matthew chapter 6 - "When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them. Amen, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret."

If the Christian in question makes a point of praying in public (e.g., prayer breakfasts, school prayer, etc.) they cannot be said to be behaving in the manner Jesus said they should. It is diametrically opposed to what a "true Christian" should be doing with regards to prayer.
