As I listened to *’s speech tonight, I heard him do something I have not ever heard him do before. He took responsibility for his mistakes. Here is the text.

(snip)

The situation in Iraq is unacceptable to the American people - and it is unacceptable to me. Our troops in Iraq have fought bravely. They have done everything we have asked them to do. Where mistakes have been made, the responsibility rests with me.

(snip)

Now I do not take much pleasure from this admission. It incenses me even more if that is possible. In the spirit of fair play that he fostered by admitting his mistake I am willing to throw down the following olive branch to Mr. Bush. We will take impeachment off the table. I am willing to extend this amnesty to the president provided he resigns immediately. Mr. President I implore you to help heal the wounds you have inflicted upon this country. Step aside. Save us the time, effort and treasury funds it will take to impeach you. This offer expires tomorrow at 10:00 pm.

YD

On edit: Anyone that wants on this train, please write an LTTE to your local paper tomorrow with this general gist.
