Reply #16: I am lucky. The chairperson of our local party has been doing it

for ages, and she knows EVERYBODY. And she invites and encourages me and everyone else in our small local group to attend everything going on, and once I'm there, she drags me by the arm and introduces me to these huge stars in the party. One year she dragged me over to meet Bob Graham and the next day there I was standing next to him on the front page of the Miami Herald. :)

So moral of the story...get active. These are all nice people who love to get new people involved.
