Dear Senator Byrd,

As a longtime supporter of yours, I for one was astonished to learn that you plan to vote for the confirmation of Judge Alito. I do not think he is the "man" for the job.

We need to have a fair and balanced Supreme Court, not a Supreme Court staffed with a bunch of old cronies! We need a person in this vital job that has respect for all citizens and the laws of our country.

Why do you support him? I do not appreciate knowing that you support a man that at least in his mind supports overturning Roe v. Wade, and yes, sadly, that is what this entire thing is about, a woman's right to choose.

I for one as a woman most certainly support a woman's right to choose. If I support women's rights, I should certainly hope that Alito does but no one was ever able to really get Alito to say one way or the other behind his smokescreen what he believes about the law Roe v. Wade.

All I can say to you is that it is too bad that you are not a woman and that you have never had to walk in the shoes of the most discriminated against group of human beings in our country - that group being women.

I resent the fact greatly that men are the ones making decisions about what is personal to a female. It is no man nor woman's business what an individual of the female sex might care to do to her body and that includes kill it should she so desire.

Perhaps that might sound a bit extreme to you, but it is my understanding that Alito doesn't have any respect for the disabled in our society, another group of persons that are constantly being discriminated against in one way or another by our "compansionate" society in which we now live in. Where is this compassion I ask you? Where?

I ask you to rethink your plan to support Alito. I for one certainly do not support him nor one tiny piece of what his real agenda might be. What is his real agenda? Does anyone have the answer to this?

Sincerely,
