62. Although the article is a year old, as bananas points out in post #23
(David Swanson has for some reason posted it on afterdowningstreet now), the question is why aren't the photos and recordings being use to prosecute people for rape and torture? Even Rumsfeld's comments seem to show that everyone agrees that they show crimes. But these incidents didn't come up in the prosecution of Graner and the others.

Salon did publish 279 photographs and 19 video clips in March 2006, and while they show abuse, they do nto appear to be the worst of the things described in the Editor and Publisher article. Maybe we don't need to see the actual photos ourselves; but they need to be publicly acknowledged as real, with the people concerned tried for the crimes. They shouldn't be some 'theoretical' photos that are just argued about in freedom of information cases; like the photos taken of a murder victim's body, you may not publish them, but the reality behind them must be confronted, publicly.
