17. My take on this would include:
In reality, we could say:

The Republican Party espouses Socialism for their inner-circle CEOs and their corporations (no-bid contracts, appointements to key-positions in Government based on loyalty to the Republican leaders, i.g. not on any demonstrated competence, which leads to disasters like Iraq and Katrina: thousands of Americans citizens either suffering or just dead, all of them needlessly).

- Successive rounds of tax-breaks for the wealthiest 1%, which they use to invest abroad and create jobs in countries like China and India, while eliminating well-payed jobs inside the country.

- Alarming increases of the national debt at the expense of the lower classes' taxpayers (actually: their children and grandchildren).

- A culture of corruption.

- Et al...

In reality, we could say that the Republican Party espouses savage Capitalism for the majority of We The People: nearly 50 millions of American citizens are left out of the system (without Health Insurance), minimum wage staled at under poverty levels since a decade, et al.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party is more like the other way around:

- Capitalism for the CEOs and their corporations (tax the wealtiest 1% for them to benefit the same as the majority of We The People).

- A desire to make sure all citizens will be treaded adequatly when their health condition will require professional care.

- Appointments to key-positions based on demonstrated competence and skills.

- Paying off the national debt (like President Clinton's administration did in its last budget), thus reducing payments of the interest-expenses, and applying the savings to improve the quality of life of all citizens.

- Et al.

So, if all those policies benefiting a majority of We The People qualify as Socialism (or Communism) to the diminishing Republican base, then which one of these two works in the best interest of a majority of We The People?

Hope I'm being "clear" enough, if that can help. ;)
