crap too - I usually delete - I admire your patience for answering one of these.

I agreed with everything in your response except the part about forcing democracy on a backward country.

Iraq was not a backward country. It led the middle east in terms of freedom for women and education. We have transformed what was once a very progressive country - despite living with sanctions for all those years - into a closed-minded, unprogressive theocracy. Saddam may have been a horrible dictator, but women could wear what they want and study to become whatever they wanted to be. I doubt women's rights in Iraq will ever be what they once were.
