I don't think Sam's new slot will have many clearances, since that's Stephanie Miller's slot.

But here's the bigger problem after September 1: with a 3-hour Randi, it's going to cause some major headaches for the affiliates who carry Randi on a 3-hour delay after Ed Schultz. Why?

Here's the schedule for the Schultz affiliates as it is now:

3 PM–6 PM ET: Ed Schultz (live)
6 PM–10 PM ET: Randi Rhodes (delayed)
10 PM-1 AM ET: Mike Malloy (live), Majority Report (delayed), or Lionel (live)

But after September 1, here's what it may be like:

3 PM-6 PM ET: Ed Schultz (live)
6 PM–9 PM ET: Randi Rhodes (delayed)
9 PM–10 PM ET: ?
10 PM–1 AM ET: ?

The question is, what are those affiliates going to put on at 9 PM? An hour of Maddow on delay? Two hours of Maddow on delay from 9-11 PM ET, and Malloy delayed 1 hour from 11-2? An hour of whatever show that will air live at 9 PM ET?

This is going to get interesting...
