Another Theory On Timing: Terrorists Want Repug Control Of The Government.

Dipping my toe back into the pool...

Anyone that has been paying attention to the timing of terror alerts has noticed how they seem to be heavily correlated to U.S. election cycles. Many have assumed based on this correlation that the majority of these alerts are simply propaganda from the right winger administration meant to scare the population into voting for repugs based on their self proclaimed "strong stance on security".

Another possibility occurs to me this morning: Terrorists WANT repugs in control of the country. The timing of terror plots could well be coordinated to serve as an election year boom for the very reactionary and belligerent repug power structure that has been so ineffective in fighting the threat.

Al Qaeda benefits from that crowd controlling things. They have done more to make the U.S. hated in the past five years than Bin Laden ever dreamed of. The neocon driven invasion of Iraq has become a quagmire that we are now tied to and which prevents us from dealing with a myriad of other pressing issues. The efforts to catch those responsible for the 9/11 attacks have floundered as we took our eye off of that ball for Saddam. Our bellicose rhetoric and saber rattling are making us new enemies and adding to terror recruitment everyday.

The worst possible scenario for Al Qaeda and other groups would be level headed and reasonable leadership in Washington. They would move rapidly to undo the Iraq entanglement, would refocus the search for Al Qaeda's leadership and generally present the world a more measured, thoughtful and honest face. We also favor measures for fighting the group that would actually be effective. Rather than blowing up Iraq to "prevent them from attacking us at home", we'd focus on disrupting attacks before they occur with sound police work and intelligence gathering. We'd put our people back on the trail of the organization full-time (the feds recently shut down their Bin Laden unit). Maybe even actually deal with port security, a total failure under Bushco leadership.

All bad for terrorists.

Anyone that doubts that Bin Laden loves repug control of the government need only look back as far as the tape he released just before the last election. Many believe that "october surprise" was enough to swing such a close election for Bushco. No doubt Bin Laden was fucking thrilled with the "results" of the election in question.

So there you have it, my new theory on the timing of these terror alerts and alleged plots to attack. As suspected, not an accident. But, possibly timing decided by the terrorists and not (don't beat me for saying it) Karl Rove.

Don't forget: Bin Laden Loves George Bush!
