Bu Melha said that a plane-load of humanitarian items sent by the foundation arrived on Tuesday to Beirut International Airport and more were expected in the coming days, following an agreement with the UAE Armed Forces.

"Lebanon, the country that used to be called the Switzerland of the east is now experiencing one of the most barbaric attacks that has diminished most of its fantastic features, and its people are facing a huge humanitarian crisis," Bu Melha added.

Following an agreement signed with the Lebanese Emergency and Relief Committee and the foundation, 8,000 Lebanese refugees in over 16 refugee camps have been provided with meals. Medical supplies have also been provided, with more on the way.

Bu Melha added the foundation is working on rehabilitating the Al Maith Hospital in Shtoura in southern Lebanon.

"Until the crisis ends we hope that the security situation will allow us to send more humanitarian convoys via land. We are in the process of preparing to build an emergency centre on the border between Lebanon and Homos in Syria, where the injured will be transported to the hospital through the border crossing to receive medical treatment.

"We are also planning to build refugee camps either in Syria or Lebanon. And of course in the long run we are willing to help and support Lebanon and its citizens as much as we can.
