Don't forget another recent embarrassment when Rep. William Jefferson got caught by the FBI. Then him not stepping down from his committee and the support from the CBC in opposition to the Democrat leaderships' wishes kept the story alive even longer. This incident completely derailed the "Culture of Corruption" angle that Nancy Pelosi was pushing at the time, haven't heard that phrase since. Patrick Kennedy and his incident at about the same time didn't help either.
