13. ABC/CBS would make him tone down his humor
As it is KO is the only reason I ever have to tune in to MSNBC. Waiting through the last few minutes of whatever drivel precedes him is irritating, but he's worth it.

KO has a sometimes-tongue-in-cheek way with serious news that might not translate well to other channels, but he pulls it off quite well most of the time. Lately he seems to have picked up Jon Stewart's flip-book method of playing the Bush regime's words back at them, which is a delightful way of demonstrating how truly Orwellian they are.

Any of the MSM news programs could do the same thing without sacrificing their gravitas, but they choose not to. Plus they don't seem to back up their own people either -- witness the unnecessary ignominy of Dan Rather.

(Two years ago the Television Critics Assoc. gave The Daily Show an award for best news and information program. When the head of CBS bitched about it I wrote him a letter demanding to know why, with all their resources, his news team did not call the regime on their about-faces the same way Jon Stewart does. Never got an answer.)

Whatever becomes of Keith Olbermann, I wish him well in his news career. He's been great to watch.
