McLaughlin is making a very important observation.

But I disagree with The Note's implication that this is somehow inevitable. I think Iraq is deliberately being quashed.

I vividly recall when the Iraq coverage dropped precipitously over the course of a few days. On a Sunday in April 2003, Karl Rove gave a speech where he said that the news media should turn their attention away from the war. Then I observed how by Wednesday of that week all of the cable news channels had taken down all their "War on Iraq" graphics, and turned their attention toward whatever bogus news was designated at that time. It might have been Laci Peterson, I don't remember.
