it's a few weeks late, but it made it in.

A Toast To Rush
While this may sound unusual, I feel it is important that, as a Democrat, I thank Rush Limbaugh. I feel he was a key in helping the Democrats regain control of the Senate. While I normally ignore Rush’s hate-filled fibs and falsehoods, his ridicule of poor Michael J. Fox certainly helped swing the Missouri senate race to the Democrats. Polling indicated that it swung a good three points our way after Rush pulled his stunt, and Democrat Claire McCaskill ended up winning by about one point. Rush’s mean-spirited mocking created a lot of sympathetic publicity for Michael J. Fox and his cause. It backfired on Limbaugh, partly because of hypocrisy, as Fox had run a similar ad for a Republican candidate that Rush seemingly had no problem with it at that time. So, when I hear Barbara Boxer grilling Alberto Gonzalez, or Bernie Sanders cross-examining Halliburton executives, I will raise a glass to toast Rush.
