Dear Gov. Dean -- Mobilize the DNC to Support Senator Kerry

27 January 2006 (# 53)

Senator Kerry has demonstrated true courage and leadership in announcing his intent to filibuster the ignominious and anti-Constitutional Alito. Congressional Dems need to unite, to the person, behind Senator Kerry and ensure that Alito never writes a SCOTUS decision.

Yesterday, in the New York Times, the editors of that grossly deficient newspaper stated the following:

Senate Democrats, who presented a united front against the nomination of Judge Alito in the Judiciary Committee, seem unwilling to risk the public criticism that might come with a filibuster — particularly since there is very little chance it would work. Judge Alito's supporters would almost certainly be able to muster the 60 senators necessary to put the nomination to a final vote.

A filibuster is a radical tool. It's easy to see why Democrats are frightened of it. But from our perspective, there are some things far more frightening. One of them is Samuel Alito on the Supreme Court.

They entitled that Editorial "Senators In Need of A Spine."

Well, we now know that Senator Kerry and Senator Kennedy have a spine.

Let us hope that the New York Times will find its own spine and never again serve as a war-mongering propaganda machine for Bush and the neoconsters the way it did in the illegal and grossly immoral war of aggression on, and occupation of, Iraq.

I urge you, Gov. Dean, to stand with Senator Kerry and call upon every DNC supporter to do likewise.

We must stop Alito.

We must stop the crimes and abuses of Bush, Cheney and their neoconster minions and brethren. They must be impeached and prosecuted.

Senator Kerry has drawn the proverbial "line in the sand."

I know which side of that line I'm on.

I hope you encourage every DNC supporter to be on the side of justice, truth, courage and commitment to the Constitution. In other words, side by side with Senator Kerry.

For the faint of heart, I urge them all to read future Senator Paul Hackett's comments:

We need 100s of Paul Hacketts in the Congress of the Unites States of America. For now, we have Senator Kerry and Kennedy, Reps. Murtha and Conyers, and others willing to risk much for the sake of the Union. Let's make it clear how much we support them.

As VP Gore noted on 16 January 2006, to paraphrase, it is "We the People ..." who must take the ultimate stand against Bush's crimes and Republican corruption, otherwise our Constitution is without its real spine -- citizens who reject tyranny and any threat to our inalienable rights.

Thank you for your continued leadership,

Peace.
