"Gray-haired women crawled headfirst under tables lined with books Friday in Green Hills, doing anything to get a glimpse of former Vice President Al Gore at his book signing.

Pandemonium in the periodicals can best describe the book signing at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in The Mall at Green Hills. About 800 people tucked into every cranny of the store for a chance to see Gore and get his book, "An Inconvenient Truth," signed by the former vice president.

Gore's book, which addresses climate change and the environment, had Davis-Kidd employees compensating for the large crowds by creating groups of people to get their books signed in rounds.

There were 22 groups of 25 people at noon.

Shortly after, shrill screams erupted from the crowd. Al Gore was in the building."
