While I agree that women raped by assailants who work in law enforcement probably think they can't press charges because they won't be believed by other members of law enforcement, I think their reticence is largely about (valid) fear for their lives. Any woman who is raped has good reason to believe the rapist poses a threat to her life, but now more than ever, (post 9/11 and Bush/neo-con reinvention of our security state) police officers have virtually untouchable power, and only infrequently face any form of consequences for abusing that power.
