4. working fast
actually helps me because I don't get bogged down with "details" and makes the piece looser.

If I work slow, my focus is on the little details -- loose or tight technique depends on what I'm trying to paint and how I want it to look when done

because of my drafting background -- when I work too tight, the "whole" of the painting can suffer because I'm focused on little things and not the entire subject. Sort of not seeing for forest for the trees
