I have major anxiety problems, usually not related to social situations, just anxiety about a million things. I'm actually pretty asocial and don't have the urge to be around people that often anyways. But, I can certainly relate to what the anxiety can do, and how it can change so many things about your life.

What you did today sounds like a huge step to me. I wonder if the meds worked better since they weren't intended for the anxiety itself. Perhaps your condition was more receptive to the meds. Whatever the reason, it's great that you were able to reach out to your old friend, and it sounds like it made her happy too. Does she know about the anxiety condition that caused you to distance yourself? I get the feeling she'd understand.
