An off the record conversation should not be put on the record without consent. If JK had said: here is what I want to tell the bloggers...then fine. Since this appears to been an evening of casual discussion, I assume most of what was said was off the record. It's not unusual for someone to repeat portions of such conversations in casual conversations with another friend and confidante, but unless certain about the friends ability to be discreet, the potential for rumors to surface increases.

Only those who were there would know if any of the comments were intended for the record, again those with a "here is what I want people to know" qualifier.
