Prayer, Light and Healing requests for December 2007

I am pleased to be coordinating the December Prayer, Light, and Healing Requests thread.
This can be such an emotional charged month of the year for so many. It certainly is for me.

As a child, this was my magical time of the year-soooo looked forward to. I can still remember how I loved to lie on the floor in my warm pajamas and watch the Christmas bulbs twirl lazily, winking at me with the reflections of the multi-colored lights.

As I grew older, I remember the special time I'd spend with my mother as we wrapped presents for my four younger siblings-she'd always wait until Christmas Eve after we'd all gone to bed. One year, I happened to discover what she did, and from then on, it became a yearly tradition until we were all grown. My father professed to hate Christmas but always made sure that we had a good tree - and provided money for presents-and a Christmas card to sign and give to our mother. (We'd always argue over who got to give which card, lol)

Well, this holiday season changed as I did. As my children were born, I got to re-live some of that magic-and now even provided some of it. Then, I found myself a single parent of three young children, struggling financially to try to salvage as much of the magic as I could. This season now became stressful and no longer very joyful-never mind magical.

Then my father passed away and the holiday changed again. There was now a "hole" during this time. As adults, we siblings carried on, raising families and now providing festivities for my mother. No more present wrapping moments though...

My mother passed away ten years ago and my children are now adults. It had become another month in the year for me -yet still one to endure...

Just this year, I've given myself "permission" to stop mourning the loss of the magic during this season. I was feeling very empty and alone but have realized that this is another phase, and shall pass as well. Can the magical feelings return?

As others have expressed here, I feel myself changing a lot lately. I'm feeling very much more "myself"-I no longer need to be a Christian-or any other religion for that matter. I still feel very spiritual however, and this summer became attuned to Reiki level 2. This has had a profound effect on me. This year I find that I'm looking forward to the holiday season - I can create new experiences rather than feeling the dark and painful sorrow of loss that has consumed me in recent years.

Well, I pray that others who may know of these feelings will take comfort from my experience. I send you all love and light during this time-and a hug :hug: for good measure.

For the victims of violence everywhere
For those struggling for peace and justice
For churches in conflict situations
For a world without war and violence

Lead me from death to life,
from falsehood to truth,
Lead me from despair to hope,
from fear to trust.
Lead me from hate to love,
from war to peace,
Let peace fill our beings,
our world and our universe.
