Now for any of you who have become spoiled using "Google Earth," these are MODIS Satellite Photos, the M in MODIS stands for Moderate Resolution, but this type of satellite is best for looking at Fires, Flooding, dust storms etc.

These are "false color" images and I'm including a before Photo below because if you just look at the "after" photo, you probably would see much, but if you compare the "before" to the "after" side by side, you will see the DARK areas around the rivers and especially around Lake Ponchartrain, the Dark areas are the flood waters.

Hopefully we will get a better real color photo tomorrow.

After Storm (Flooding):
Date: 2005/242 - 08/30
16 :45 UTC
Floods along the Gulf Coast
Satellite: Terra

Before Storm Flooding (note: you have to scroll down to bottom picture on the linked page)

Date: 2005/239 - 08/27
19 :25 UTC
The Gulf Coast (before flooding)
Satellite: Aqua

If you have a slow connection, or can figure out how to open more that one window at the same time and can then resize them, look for this logo to open two viewers at once for easy comparison:
