I don't mean did http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clinton_Twelve#Integration">she want them to or do we think they should have reacted differently. I mean did http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_McDonogh_Three">she really truly think they would have a different reaction. You're going to a Southern school--you either keep your race secret or go somewhere else.


Doesn't sound so good put that way, does it? And it's exactly morally equivalent. Ms. Javier has every right to an education at that college. The fact that the college is run by bigots, and that the law hasn't caught up with our natural rights, is immaterial. The college is in the wrong, and by saying "oh, she shouldn't have pressed the issue," you're just keeping things from getting any better.

We don't gain our rights by refusing to push for them. We gain our rights by demanding them.
