194. This one is really remarkable!
YES, gay people are second class citizens... however, the option for white members of the GLBT community to the stay in the closet and get treated like 1st class straight white people hasn't gone away.

Unlike the obviousness of skin color.

There is still a price you pay for coming out of the closet. Homophobia dates back thousands of years. Expecting major progress within 50 strikes me as absurd. The very fact that gay persecution is illegal and sodomy laws are being overturned, or ignored is PROGRESS.

So, of course, I'm going to get in trouble for stating the obvious.

There are certain gay rights that I have and will stick my neck out for.
- Adoption
- Equal Employment Rights
- Civil Unions, complete with health benefits, death benefits, visitation rights and tax breaks.
- Hate Crime Prosecution
- anti-discrimination laws
- repeal of don't ask/don't tell and acceptance of openly gay military personnel

But I will NOT stick my neck out for same-sex marriage. I guess that makes me homophobic.
