It is no more appropriate for a gay person to call a straight person a breeder than for a straight person to call a gay person a faggot. Both words, when used, are meant as insults, plain and simple.
I have NEVER seen a straight DU'er calling a gay person a faggot, but I can't count the number of times I've seen the word "breeder" used by DU'ers. A breeder, according to the dictionary, is a person who raises animals. (That definition would seem to include many gay people, but the word never seems to be used to refer to gay people with families or pets.) The other definition is that it is an "insulting" term for heterosexuals. That's correct. It's insulting for any human to be compared to animals.
As the daughter of a gay father, I have always been sensitive about name-calling, and have often spoken out against the common practice of some of today's youth who use the word "gay" as a synonym for "lame." I get just as riled when I hear people use the term "breeders." It just adds to all the hate out there.
Thanks for letting me vent.
