83. The key is for people to specify what they stand for, not what it's called.

Jesus was big, pro-empathy, pro-poor, free healthcare, anti-violence liberal. The most visible self-identified Christian political groups in America are intolerant, pro-war, anti-intellectual corporate capitalists and / or theocrats.

Liberal Christians can and should reclaim the core teachings of Jesus, with which ethical atheists and others would generally agree, from the vicious nutwads who use "Christian" as code for something that's very nearly the opposite of Jesus' (supposed) teachings.
