7. The changed world is often taken for granted.
Two hundred years ago the centuries old horror of slavery was still in force. Today we still have human trafficking but to a much much lesser degree.
Two hundred years ago the centuries long subjugation of women was still in full force. Now, still recognising the glass ceiling, emancipation and liberation have taken place.
Two hundred years ago international travellers often went armed for their own protection. Now most of the world can be traversed in comparative safety.

I believe the desire to "make the world better" still prevails ixion.

Many folk just don't have a conception of 'how to'.
