However, I find it exceedingly revealing that, not only does Stone want to put severe constraints on the testing, he appealed to the rejected McPherson to intervene for him and impose the constraints.

So we can clearly see that:
* Stone knows these machines are rig-able
* Stone knows that McPherson knows they're rig-able
* Stone DOESN'T want that rig-ability to be demonstrated
* Stone knows that McPherson ALSO doesn't want that rig-ability to be demonstrated
