The impression that this lay person got was that data was locked up because of privacy problems - which I view as nonsense since non-disclose agreements plus a paper that reveals no specific data can certainly be the result of letting a group of outside folks look at the complete data. I also got the impression that there was a resistance to trying to prove fraud.

In any case we all seem more or less in agreement - with me the optimist that thinks a method of analysis that proves fraud will be found once the total data is reviewed.

As to the future, I really do like the Venezuela method of two receipts, one retained by the polling place so that the vote can be audited.
