And if we think so, we have to think of the struggle using the Black experience as historical precedent. We are not all slaves or descendants of slaves (surfs perhaps?) and their unique heritage should not be trivialized. But when it comes to voting rights, we are where the "Negroes" were in the early 1960s. There efforts, which of course also involved White support, may be the guide for us now.

This means, unfortunately, that we may need some Republican help, but that's just off the top of my head.
