Official Thread: Election Reform Awareness - Educating Elected Officials

Good morning, DUers!

After the success that we had with getting a Senator to stand up and object to the Ohio Electoral votes, I feel that we can continue to educate our elected officals as to how important election reform is. Our elected officials, all of them from local to federal, work for US. We need to "manage up", that is, educate them as to what their jobs are.

This thread is ONLY for coming up with ideas as to how we can go about educating our officials about election reform. If you don't have a suggestion that is a SOLUTION, don't post here. Thank you.

I will start out the suggestions in a reply to my thread.

We have moved a mountain in the past weeks. We still have more work to do but as we saw yesterday, we still have more work to do.

No retreat. No surrender.

Here's what we have so far:

*Create fraud packets to mail/FedEx to elected officials
*Create state-specific fraud packets as well
*Educate the media by using media blasters
*Educate the "masses" using flyers, something easy to read
*Send BBV book to elected officials
*Send the Conyers report to elected officals
*Continue to call, fax, email and write with our concerns
*Develop a calling strategy
*Develop a clear and consistent message to deliver to our elected Officials (EO)
*Create a "media tree" for the organized distribution of information
*Election reform "comics" - mordarlar will do this
*Work on cleaning up registration process
1. Research needs to be done on the rejected ballots
2. Research and fix the registration process
*Expand your network of progressive groups
*Educate major corporations and businesses (especially the BLUE ones)

Keep those ideas coming!

Arnheim
