You say "one of the advanatges of a one party state is that the political process can move a lot quicker due to lack of opposition". But a one-party system can move you quickly and efficiently into the abyss. The lack of an opposition is only an unalloyed advantage if you happen to be part of the ruling apparatus. For the rest of the country, it could be an advantage, a disadvantage, or a complete disaster.
