95. Interested in abolishing corporate personhood? Meeting in Des Moines 7/28
Colleagues,

Location change --
This meeting will be held instead at the Woodmont Library - just 4 miles north of the Federal Way 320th previously announced.

Woodmont Library: 26809 Pacific Highway South, Des Moines, WA 98198-9255.
Library phone: 253-839-0121
Take the 272nd street exit off I-5, west to Pacific Highway (Rt 99), then north a block to the Woodmont Library.

Please make sure any to whom you forwarded this earlier notice, receive notice of the NEW location.

My apologies for the change. The King County Library advised that the Federal Way meeting room orginally requested is not available - and so moved us to the nearest available library, Woodmont Library, not far but actually in Des Moines.

Below is the original meeting call, edited with new location.
===============

Colleagues,

Please consider attending a meeting on Thursday, July 28th, 7 PM, at Woodmont Library, 26809 Pacific Highway South, Des Moines, WA 98198.

The purpose is to discuss the objective of a state legislative resolution calling on the Congress for a constitutional amendment to curtail corporate personhood and undue influence in campaigns, elections and lawmaking by Big Money and corporate interests -- as proposed by Move To Amend, Free Speech For People and like-minded organizations. If there is consensus on such an objective, we may decide to create an ongoing coordinating team to map out an advocacy plan. No decisions are final at this point.

The meeting room is available from 6:15 PM - for any who want to come early (with munchies, beverages) for casual conversation. We plan the formal meeting to begin at 7 PM - and to end by 8:30 pm or shortly after. By 9 pm, we need to be packed up and gone.

This meeting has been discusseed with Holly Jacobson (Free Speech For People), Move-To-Amend local groups (including Molly Gibbs/Aleta Debee in Olympia), Bill Moyer (Backbone Campaign), and with support of Steve Breaux (WashPIRG), Sandra VanderVen (MoveOn.org), and others. WPC can play a role in this effort if there is interest and participation from partner organizations.

Please reply whether you - or others from your group - plan to attend. Feel free to invite others who may be interested. Reply to: wpc {at} washclean.org Phone 206-784-2522 (WPC ofc) or 206-784-9695 (home ofc).
