At some point many normal people look at what the Right has become and they realize that, while they may generally agree with Republican or Conservative principles, they just can't be on the same side as people so nutty they can't accept a birth certificate, believe in death panels and think even the slightest reform is socialism etc etc etc. It's gotten way absurd. To be a Republican these days you have to at least be able to condone outright insane ideas and behavior, many good citizens just can't do that.
