18. Brown inherited Blair's mess just as President Obama
has inherited Dubya's. The major problem is that both Blair and Brown are members of the same political party. Brown lacks Blair's charisma (Poodle let a LOT of people down) and Labour has been splintering politically for years, largely as a result of Blair's extremely unpopular alignment with Dubya's insane foreign policies.

Blair and his enablers managed to do the near-impossible, turn many post-Thatcher British liberals into those who despise Labour's politics and policies. Blair's enablers are still a-plenty in the government; they have never liked Brown and will do anything to bring him down, even if it means losing the PM slot. The Tories have not been more successful in that so far because they have no charismatic leader. Bad memories of the Thatcher era also remain strong. But they are steadily increasing their representation in Parliament.
