93. Rachel's job isn't to kiss our foreheads and tuck us in with our binkies.
I thought she made it pretty clear she was reporting on what the McCain camp is claiming about poll numbers. And she pointed out their claims were in contradiction to all the other polls.

There are things I don't want to hear either, but I can hardly expect to find a news or opinion broadcast where all the words are put through a special Batgirl filter so as not to upset me with things I find unpleasant. When my nerves get to be that frazzled I take a time out and watch them sell ugly sweaters on the shopping channel. In this case it was well worth sticking around to catch Frank Rich's analysis of what might be going on behind the scenes at the McCain campaign.

I think Rachel has a brisk, upbeat attitude even when she delivers news that has negative implications, and maybe there are some who mistake this for some sort of gleefulness on her part. It's as though they would only be happy if, each time she mentioned the name "McCain" for instance, it was preceded with the modifiers "that stupid fucker."
