87. Dear Better, I don't know why these posts freak some Obama
supporters out. The amount of foul language and meanness is something else.

I was shocked the other day when an OP was upset about Obama's stance on this bailout plan. They gave a good explanation of why it was a bad plan and unfortunately suggested withdrawing support for Obama if he didn't back off the horrible plan. People attacked, used really bad language, accused them of being a troll, and then got the moderators to lock the thread.

I thought about asking the moderator why they just didn't ask the OP to change their text slightly. However, the detractors claimed that withdrawing support was the same thing as supporting an opponent or third party.

There are a lot of people on DU who feel they have to support Obama no matter what. Like the Republicans, you can NOT question anything about the person or his campaign. To do so might jinx the elections.

I guess Fear can just bring out the worst in people. I, OTOH, believe Dems should have the right to question. That questioning is healthy. Otherwise you end up with Bush.

So don't let them get you down. Some of us sympathize and hope you don't get too disillusioned.
I'll be supporting Obama AND some local politicians from various states who have a voting record I can believe in. By supporting Obama I don't condone his FISA vote or his support of this horrible bailout. Nor do I support Biden's vote on the bankruptcy bill. It just means I think they are better than the opposition. Meanwhile I'll let them know what I think of their bad decisions. You should let them know, too, what you think of their local campaigns.
