Of course, none of the 'pubs since Nixon have been able to go out into the full public eye. Even Poppy and PopEye are limited to a few ballgames.

On the other hand, Carter and Clinton get out all the time.

A few years ago, I sat at the bar at Wild Ginger, Seattle, and drank ports with Clinton for maybe an hour. Ran into him a couple of days later at Pike Street Market, while I was playing "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out" on some street guy's guitar.

Do you think LittleMan could show up in a place such as that without the place having been swept and emptied?

No way.

And who (with the exception of maybe Heritage) will ask him to come by and fumble through a few words?
