191. LOL

"Doesn't the moon affect the tides? Do we know how that works? Based on the same principles?"

The moon causes the tides due to a force called "gravity." It pulls on big things which aren't nailed down, like oceans.

Please explain to me a mechanism in which gravity could effect personality, or chances of meeting a tall dark stranger.

"No... not in the way that you mean. Yes, i believe they are meant to be indicators. "

So, since the motion of the planets are indicative, and since the motions of the planets can easily be predicted, how come we can't know things that happen in the future? Or tell things that happened in the past, for that matter?

""why are only certain celestial bodies included?"

Why do we have tonsils or a coccyx? Maybe other bodies were tried and discarded as not useful.

Tonsils are a part of the lymph system, used in the immune system. The coccyx is a skeletal anchor for muscles controlling defecation.

"'Has the discovery of new celestial bodies affected the way astrological predictions are made?'

Not really."

Why not? New celestial bodies have gravity, just like the moon.

"I don't think one can get an advanced degree in Astrology from a "reputable" University, so i don't think there are Scientific Journals. I haven't googled and like i said, i'm no expert... but i know an Astrologer who's wicked cool and always seems to peg who's gonna be the asshole at the party."

You don't need a degree to publish material in scientific journals. Just demonstrable, reproducible results.
