... I believe, part of a military airlift group, but Stewart AFB has mostly been transferred to the state of NY.

As of now, any Marines in the area are likely Marine reservists assigned to a reserve refueling squadron servicing four KC-130s, which are not likely to be transferred to the Middle East, since the aircraft is nearly obsolete, as its speed makes it mostly suitable for refueling helicopters.

What one probably has here are a few reservists who are not likely to find themselves in the shit, making a little noise for the cameras and/or the reporters.

Think of them as just simple-minded people with Rush Limbaugh on all the time on the radio in the shop.
