to me (Obama Supporter) that statement means he acknowledges there are people who are anti-gay and that we need to work together to bring equality for all. You saw it and your reaction is he's trying to appease the anti-gay crowd. Sure there are people who "won't ever be convinced, but that goes with everything, if we let them stand in the way then abortion would be illegal, gay sex would be illegal, sex outside of marriage would be illegal, birth control would be illegal. Invading foreign lands and killing the natives however.. party central!
It's all a matter of perspective. If you go in expecting Obama to do something you disagree with you'll find it even if it's not there. Just like I have the same problem trying to read through Hillary's statements without being "biased".

May either candidate beat the living crap out of McCain.
