As a white person who occasionally attended Wright's church

when I lived in Chicago- I certainly didn't have that impression of him (Wright). I had black friends from work who went there and since it was the same denomination I belonged to (UCC) I visited a few times, including on Christmas.

Sure it was a different culture, and the sermons were directed towards the needs and issues of the black community but I never felt that there was any hatred towards white people.

This was long before 2001 but I have a feeling things are being blown out of proportion. I also expect that Obama, being a very busy person who travelled quite a bit, wasn't exactly a regular church attender. He probably wasn't keeping track of the pastor's foibles.

Farrakhan is another story. I lived in Hyde Park for many years and for a while I was about a block away from his complex of buildings. He totally creeps me out. His bodyguards used to wait in cars with their lights off on the exit from Lake Shore Drive so you would almost run into them. He hates whites and blacks who disagree with him and makes no secret of it.
