The whole architecture of the so-called "free trade" movement has been to hamstring domestic politics in every country and make them subjugated to "market forces" regartdless of the social cost.

There is a huge difference between merely assisting international trade, and imposing a regime that foces countries to abandoned their own politics and culture in order to play in the global sandbox.

NAFTA is just one small part of that.
