No payoffs, no sweetheart deals, no preferential treatments, no petty revenge, no tying up necessary and good bills so you can extort swill into law,

Why the hell would anyone with advantage to lose want democracy, anyway?

That's why the Founding Fathers wanted democracy anyway---they knew that the way England had rigged the game, they would always be losers!

Unfortunately, most of their descendents now want to close the doors, remove the ladders, and make sure that nobody "undeserving" rises above them.
