It's also pretty true to the quintessence of the blogs that they like these extreme and slightly unfair images. It's a commonplace on the sphere. Bloggers make Bob Englehart look like Jim Lehrer, a model of evenness and sobriety. That blackface image doesn't belong in the mainstream of a campaign, but it hews pretty close to the underground comic book spirit of many blogs. So how close should a campaign get to the bloggers who love it?"

"It's offensive. It does not represent this campaign," said Tom Swan, Lamont's campaign manager. "We were offended, and we took immediate action when we heard about it."
