8. Gap Between Rich and Poor
Edited on Thu Jul-27-06 01:40 PM by mntleo2
...when the DLC this week tried to recharge "the American Dream" myth, my response was, "American Dream. WHAT American Dream?" It was almost insulting for them to even TRY to use something like that because most of us do not live their dream, ours is more of a nightmare which is getting scarier by the minute. And saying that the problem was that we needed more education, like we are "too dumb" was just insulting. There are millions of unemployed Mastered degreed people (mostly older women who have raised their children and who have no safety net) in transitional housing right this minute and millions more working McJobs with little hope of advancement. I hope you can try to talk about the myriad of attempts to communicate this stuff with blogs like yours, that have millions of people discusssing the issues. Blogs discusing issues important to us AND suggesting solutions where both Dems and Republicans in power could plainly see what the American pulse is, but they just pretend our needs and ideas don't exist, and then they just make up their own issues which have little to do with us.

My 2 cents
