when incumbent Senator Rudy Boschwitz sent out a letter to the Jewish Community in Minnesota telling them he was a better Jew than Paul Wellstone. He was publicly criticized by some Rabbis for doing this. The letter went out the weekend before the election and it was what pretty much put Wellstone over the top.
