one of the remarkable, undemocratic idiocies of our system of government is that the minority party does not have a right to hold formal hearings nor do they have the power to subpoena witnesses and force them to testify under oath ...

this does a huge disservice to the American people because it strips the minority party of any realistic oversight capability ... especially at times when one party controls all branches of government, this weakens our democracy and allows the party in power to pretty much do whatever the hell it wants to do ...

i truly hope that the Dems seek to remedy this as soon as they return to power ... the minority party in the Congress should have full power to investigate the possible indiscretions of the majority party's actions be they in the House, Senate, or Administrative branch ...
