I, also, have a child with Type 1 diabetes (diagnosed at four, now thirteen). I didn't know anything about this bill, so I really appreciate your heads up.

I just e-mailed AND called my two Senators. An aide from Senator Coleman's office had the courtesy to return my call, which I did appreciate. Coleman is supporting the bill. To make a long conversation short, Coleman is a supporter of JDF, doesn't think this bill will endanger diabetics since they can purchase a second health plan based on "one of the state employee health plans from one of the five most populous states." I pointed out that state employee health plans can be changed by state legislatures and that I don't find that particularly reassuring. I'll probably save repeating the rest of the conversation for the Minnesota forum.

He also claimed that "special interest groups," like the ADA are mis-informed.
